Samuel
Clarke is an Irish artist and theatre director currently based between the UK
and Europe. He has previously studied at the Florence Academy of Art and is
currently undertaking further training under Charles H. Cecil in Florence.
His work
focuses on exploring landscape and portraiture in an expressive style derived
from and inspired by the classical tradition. He is committed to the careful
observation of nature. He aims to capture the essence of subject through
working directly from life. The paintings within this exhibition are an example
of recent plein air works, with scenes painted in Switzerland, Ireland,
Scotland, Greece, France, London and Windsor. Clarke's plein air painting has
been covered by the Daily Telegraph, The Mirror and the New York Times. He
recently exhibited at Dalkeith Palace, Scotland, at their Inception exhibition.
